    Diagnostics of electrical machines

    In order to meet the current needs of industrial plants, Partner Serwis has created a specialized diagnostics unit, which aims to facilitate technical inspection of machinery and equipment and quick identification of failures. Very often, even a simple adjustment of machine settings can cause a significant reduction in factors such as mechanical vibrations, stress, anomaly in the power supply, that can be harmful for the entire device.

    This unit is comprised of people with extensive experience in various companies. Unique equipment enables precise diagnosis of operation (starting with bays, through inverters, motors, gears up to the fan or pump).

    Active application of the RCA method

    Our diagnostics methods consist in the primary Root Cause Analysis of the issue, which allows us to quickly identify the real cause of device or system malfunction, prior to commencing the process of fault removal or repairs. RCA is used at every stage of the service.

    Vibration measurement

    Vibration monitoring allows to assess the state of machinery, in particular: bearing condition, alignment, balancing, state of foundation. Modern measuring instruments facilitate:

    • measurement of mechanical vibration intensity, which defines the state of machinery based on the total value of the vibration,
    • FFT spectrum analysis, which enables accurate estimation of the causes of excessive vibration,
    • envelope measurement,
    • two-channel, synchronous measurement, which allows to present the vibrations in the form of an "Orbit" graph

    We perform measurements of the mechanical vibrations and balancing of rotating machines (especially fans) on-site. Machine setting is performed with laser instruments.

    Measurement of electrical parameters

    Analysis of current and voltage waveforms facilitates:

    • verification of the state of machinery along with transient states and symmetry at receipt (e.g. asynchronous motor cage),
    • assessment of power quality, interference and influence of individual devices on their emissions.

    Thermal imaging measurements

    Infrared camera measurement allows to visualize temperature field of an object, making it possible to locate places of excessive temperature indicating damage, lack of insulation or poor electrical connections. In shop practice, infrared measurements are also used for detecting faults in packets of sheet metal.

    Insulation of windings

    Insulation measurement is considered one of the basics of metrology of electrical machines. In order to detect insulation faults and their causes, it is necessary to use appropriate measuring methods:

    • insulation resistance measurement, determination of absorption coefficients and polarization,
    • measurement of the insulation by means of DC voltage restoration.

    Resistance measurements using the four point method and bridging

    • winding resistance measurements,
    • sensor resistance measurements.

    Measurement of turn-to-turn winding faults

    Turn-to-turn winding insulation measurements allow you to check the occurrence of turn-to-turn faults (weak points in insulation) and asymmetry of windings (shock pulse method).

    Measurements of the commutator, slip rings, brush motor circuits

    • measurement of slip ring operation,
    • precise diagnostics of the commutator surface with saving of charts,
    • brush pressure measurement,
    • visual assessment of cameras brush, commutator,
    • neutral zone setting,
    • resistance testing of DC rotor connections (voltage drops).

    Preventive diagnostics

    Our diagnostic services allow to not only quickly and accurately detect the sources of improper operation of the machine, but also help decide on the necessary renovations during normal operation. Periodic measurements facilitate anticipating potential failures, as well as evaluating the degree of wear in the key elements of the device.

    Continuous monitoring of machinery and equipment also allows for lengthening of time between downtimes. Inspections are carried out as necessitated by the state of machinery and not according to schedule (i.e. quarterly or annually).

    Protocols and reports

    After conducting measurements and careful analysis of the results, we draw up protocols and reports containing specific conclusions and recommendations for the users.
