Modernization of machine tool in connection with its
reconstruction is the effective method of obtaining a new processing device
without the need of purchasing expensive equipment. It allows for adjustment of
owned machine tools to a changed processing technology or new production stock.
Such modernization is based on:
- Replacement of trapezoidal screws by ball clutches
- Elimination of gearboxes (usually equipped with a
number of electromagnetic emergency clutches) in favour of direct drives
- Replacement of joint drive axes by separate drive
units
- Implementation of CNC control system
The example of such project is the replacement of TPK
90 conventional turning-lathe by CNC machine tool utilizing the SINUMERIK 802D
sl control system and SINAMICS S120 drives which took place in 2009.
